Krista is a proud Hoosier. She was born and raised in northeast Indiana, growing up learning midwestern values.
Watching her mother and father pour so much of their time into their careers, Krista knew she wanted a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. She took a radio/tv class in high school, collecting interviews, learning how to edit video, putting together a newscast, and anchoring that newscast. It didn't feel like work, so she knew she was on the right track.
Krista enrolled at Butler University, hoping a big city like Indianapolis would be a good contrast to a small campus at Butler.
Internships with WFFT News, the Newseum, News/Talk 1190 WOWO and WISH-TV not only shaped what kind of broadcaster Krista would be, but changed her outlook on life, teaching her about people who don't have the same backgrounds or beliefs she does.
Upon graduating with honors from Butler University, with a bachelor's degree in Electronic Journalism, Krista was offered the morning anchor position at 1190 WOWO, the most popular program on the leading news/talk radio station in northeast Indiana. There, she was awarded by the Indiana Associated Press for Best Newscast Short-Form Second Place. She was a member of the team when it won the 2014 Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters for a medium market.
After launching the area's first-of-its-kind simulcast, broadcasting an hour of WOWO's morning show on both radio and WISE NBC33, Krista was offered the position of main anchor for NBC33, a position she holds now.
Krista has interviewed then-Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Indiana Governor and Vice Presidential Nominee Mike Pence, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, political commentators James Carville and Mary Matalin, Teen Choice Award Winner Karmin, the History Channel's Tyler Dale, HGTV's Hilary Farr.
Perhaps more importantly, Krista has interviewed a grandmother, who lost her grandson to suicide, a homeowner worried about how she would pay for a sewer rate increase, a group of comic book fans, who dress up and visit sick children at the hospital, and neighbors concerned about raising their children so close to violence.
Krista anchors, reports, shoots and edits her own video, runs liveshots and co-produces newscasts.
